Razz poker games are played in rooms where the maximum limit of players is eight and the betting structure is fixed. The start of the game is based on the fact that everyone/every player, makes an ante bet before they are dealt cards. This bet is forced on all players and the bet amount is about 1/10th the amount of the small bet in the game. The size of the ante bet doesn't rely on the small bet amount but changes depending upon where the game is being played and the stakes that are being offered.

The game starts once every player has placed his/her ante bet. The players are dealt 2 cards which are placed face down on the table while the third card is placed face up for all to see. The player who has been dealt the highest value card (face up card) needs to place a bet known as the ‘bring in'. The amount of the ‘bring in' is not constant and depends on the scenario and the stakes of the game. After the ‘bring in‘ has been set the game starts in a systematic order with each player having the options of calling, folding and raising. This is possible until the bets number 4 or 5 after which the only option is to call or fold. After this round is over the dealer deals another face up card and the player who receives the lowest card starts making the bet which revolves round the table in a clockwise manner until everyone gets a chance. The game proceeds with each player being dealt two face up cards at set intervals which are followed by betting rounds. After this a final and last card is dealt face down and a betting round is initiated and it culminates with the players showing their hands, the player with the best and superior Ace to five hand wins the pot.
